A cool URL is a handy thing to have even if it just mirrors to an archive.org page.
I never felt so flattered as the day that I found someone had registered gurdonark.com, and I got to write to “get it back”.
Still, it would be fun to be able to set up musician websites as easily as weblogs. Sometimes I think the solution is for someone to design a band-friendly weblog template.
I use box.net to share music, because its widget permits not only play but also download.
I agree that it takes time and money to do a website “right”, but I like the notion of low-fi bands on low-fi website, with music everywhere.
