I don’t understand why a competitor could not offer the same service in a better package. Google could create Google Sequencer, and offer lessons for free. A game platform could offer a tutorial program that is actually fun, and key into gamers’ price point and willingness to pay.

If Apple had instead made garageband more fully featured, and used it to sell Macs without premium pricing, then Apple’s customary genius would have been at work, rather than this idea, which feels a bit like bank service fees.
