I think this is at least in part because it is only useful in the kitchen. If it had connectivity with more of the house it might get used elsewhere. But honestly, after about a week with an Echo, the only thing it is useful for is timers. (I’d add music to the list if it connected with my Sonos, but that is Sonos’ fault by all accounts.)

Over time I have learned more incantations, beyond timers. EG quick math, weather report, NPR. It takes a long time to learn things to do with it.
A big problem is discoverability. How do you find out that a feature is available?
